Job description

Mechanical Engineering Manager
Curtiss Wright Round Rock has a rewarding opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team!
As our Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead, manage and direct execution of a subgroup of Engineers and Technicians focused on products for specific market segments (Nuclear/Aerospace/Industrial) at Curtiss-Wright Round Rock. Your primary responsibility will be to build a high-performance team, continually improve engineering processes, and deliver high-quality safety-related instrumentation into the market on-time and under-budget.
You will also be responsible for meeting revenue, profit, cash and order goals, executing customer funded development projects, teaming with the other managers within the organization to define and streamline engineering processes. As a member of the engineering management team, you will be expected to identify risks and opportunities, communicate status, empower your team, proactively solve problems across departments, and promote a safe and compelling work environment.

Salary Information: $144,000 to $160,000 annually, plus bonus

Your Challenge:
  • Manage and empower a diverse set of engineers and technicians that are building products and performing services for specific functional and geographic vertical markets
  • Provide guidance, support and mentorship to help individuals grow in autonomy and contribute to the team's success
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable to your given tasks and always embody engineering excellence
  • Team closely with Project Management to assign engineering resources to projects and customer orders
  • Understand, execute, manage, and improve engineering processes associated with manufacturing, purchasing, product design, and professional services. These processes include analog/digital electrical design, mechanical design, manufacturing automation, materials science, fiber optic communications, Computer Aided Design (CAD), quality systems, task estimation, root cause analysis, Product Data Management/Product Lifecycle Management (PDM/PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), non-conformances, corrective actions, investigations, and audits.
  • Lead the bid opportunities for your domain and produce the engineering solution and associated effort. Work closely with Sales to produce a viable, cost-effective proposal.
  • Remove impediments, provide training, create a compelling work environment, align personnel goals with business goals, and perform meaningful annual performance reviews to help the team to be successful
  • Encourage dialog and cooperation between all elements of the organization
  • Transparently communicate Engineering status, opportunities and risks to the Director of Engineering and Project Management
  • Continually improve quality and workmanship of engineering designs and services
  • Own the onboarding, performance management and career development of the team
  • Lead by example
  • Other duties as required

Your Expertise:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electronics. Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification highly desired.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing and manufacturing products.
  • Experience leading and managing teams in a cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD, and data analysis.
  • Perform multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Root-cause analysis and problem resolution at a functional level.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, drive, energy level, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Lives the "continuous improvement" philosophy; develops and adopts new ideas and concepts.
  • ASME Certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma and Lean certifications preferred.
