Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE Preferred)

Position Overview
We are seeking a *Senior Mechanical Engineer* with *5+ years of experience* to join our Phoenix, AZ team. This position will support the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. The ideal candidate has strong HVAC design experience, excellent technical skills, and the ability to lead projects while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical engineering design efforts for projects from concept through construction completion.
* Design HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, heat pumps, VRF systems, and central plant systems.
* Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, energy modeling, and system sizing.
* Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
* Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines.
* Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
* Review equipment submittals, RFIs, and contractor documentation.
* Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, and applicable local codes.
* Participate in client meetings and provide technical recommendations.
* Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
* Mentor junior engineers and designers.
* Perform QA/QC reviews of mechanical designs and documentation.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* *5+ years of mechanical engineering experience* in an A/E consulting environment.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or actively pursuing).
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building codes, and energy-efficient design practices.
* Experience with:
* Revit MEP
* AutoCAD
* Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or similar load calculation software
* Energy modeling software (preferred)
* Microsoft Office Suite
