Job description

A leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager, and is responsible for providing technical expertise to the engineering team. This position is responsible for providing general and mechanical engineering subject matter expertise, detailed design support, and technical assistance. This position will serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical design and integration, root cause analysis, and hands-on troubleshooting. This position will support day-to-day engineering demands and select projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
    • Design, develop, and execute test and evaluation protocols for mechanical, electrical, structural, and automotive equipment, components, assemblies, or systems.
    • Apply mathematical and engineering principles and methods.
    • Perform extensive testing and evaluation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
    • Conduct research and studies new technologies for new and legacy products.
    • Serve as project manager for the internal Certification & Standards Program.
    • Advise on system integration issues across vehicle platforms and products.
    • Advise disposition of new and non-conforming equipment items.
    • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and other third parties.
    • Complete work assignments promptly.
    • Document and maintain plans, reports, drawings, specifications, instructions, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Secondary Duties:
      • Support designated projects and improvement initiatives.
      • Participate in engineering staff meetings
        Required Education and Experience:
      • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
      • 3+ years of experience showing progressing increases in technical responsibility.
      • Experience working with engineering professionals - engineers, technicians, drafters.
      • Ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines - mechanical, structural, automotive, and certification.
      • Ability to work in a process driven environment - quality, supply chain, production, and engineering.
      • Experience managing single and multi-phase projects.
      • Experience in the following engineering practices: estimation (time & cost), design and configuration development, bill of material development, manufacturing sequence development, systems design, sustainment and maintenance, and test and evaluation.
      • Experience working with ERP and MRP enterprise systems.
      • Experience creating, using, modifying, archiving technical documentation.
        Preferred Education and Experience:
        • Electrical Vehicle design and/or assembly certifications.
        • AutoCAD and Solidworks or Inventor skills
        • Conceptual knowledge of custom vehicle production experience
