The Road Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of mechanical maintenance activities for the truck and trailer fleet. They supervise the team of mechanics, ensure that work complies with safety and quality standards, plan preventive and corrective maintenance, and act as a technical reference within the garage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Supervision and Management

  • Supervise, coach, and mobilize a team of heavy vehicle mechanics

  • Ensure onboarding, training, and development of employees

  • Enforce occupational health and safety rules and intervene in case of non-compliance

  • Maintenance Management

  • Plan and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance of the fleet

  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Transportation, CSA standards, and internal procedures

  • Diagnose or support complex mechanical diagnostics (engine, transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical)

  • Validate the quality of repairs before returning vehicles to service

  • Operational and Administrative Management

  • Ensure maintenance, inspection, and repair records are up to date

  • Collaborate with external suppliers (inspection, specialized maintenance)

  • Manage priorities based on operational needs and emergencies

  • Participate in continuous improvement of garage work methods

  • Health, Safety, and Environment

  • Ensure compliance with OHS procedures, PPE, and daily inspections

  • Identify risks and propose and implement corrective measures

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Experience

  • DEP in heavy road vehicle mechanics (asset)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy vehicle mechanics

  • Previous experience in supervision or team leadership (asset)

  • Experience in an industrial environment or with truck fleets

  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

  • Comfortable with maintenance tracking software/tools

  • Strong leadership and hands-on approach

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities

  • Autonomy, rigor, and ability to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills
