Role:

The Commercial Loan Officer will be responsible for providing outstanding service to existing and prospective business members and performing a variety of duties associated with developing new business, structuring, analyzing, underwriting, and closing of all types of complex commercial and participation loans, as well as monitoring, managing reporting and maintaining a loan portfolio.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

  • Meet with existing and prospective business members to promote credit unions Business Lending Products and solicit new business
  • Interview prospective borrowers and request necessary information to process loan requests
  • Analyze and interpret applicant's financial credit information and collateral
  • Underwrite credit requests and prepare credit memorandum while taking into consideration applicable policies, procedures, guidelines and analyzed risks. Present loan to CLO and BLC as required.
  • Conduct periodic reviews, extensions and renewals including writing memorandums for the file and reassess updated financial statements
  • Monitor loan portfolio to ensure proper management of risk ratings, compliance with loan covenants and early identification of potential problems
  • Assist members with inquiries and information requests and resolve issues, promote and cross-sell other products and services as appropriate
  • Originate, analyze, underwrite and coordinate the closing of participation loans ensuring compliance with ACCU, Federal and State regulatory requirements
  • Monitor participation sold/bought portfolio to ensure proper management of risk ratings, compliance with loan covenants, remittance of payments, loan performance, loan reviews and early identification of potential problem.
  • Track all prospecting activities and report specific efforts to the Director of Business Lending
  • Inform management of key issues affecting the development of new relationships
  • Manage the MBL report, call report, board reports and other monitoring activity necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience: Five to eight years of similar or related experience as a Commercial Lender at a financial institution, preferably experience in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Must be knowledgeable in all areas of commercial lending including sales, underwriting and portfolio management. Additional experience in loan operations and collections is also desirable.
  • Education: Equivalent to a college degree in a relevant field.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Occasional weekends
  • Remote work is available after 90 days (Hybrid).
