The Logistics Manager is a hands-on operational leader responsible for executing BIG's day-to-day international and domestic logistics activities. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics, this role manages international inbound and outbound precious metals shipments - including full customs clearance - and supports domestic retail parcel operations handled through carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and USPS. The Logistics Manager plays a central role in carrier and vendor negotiations, route optimization, and the implementation of logistics process improvements.
This role is ideal for a logistics professional with strong working experience in import/export operations, trade compliance, and carrier management who is ready to take ownership of the operational engine that moves high-value cargo across BIG's global network.
The day in the life of a Logistics Manager...
International Imports & Exports
  • Execute and oversee international inbound and outbound shipments of precious metals, numismatic coins, and related high-value cargo, coordinating closely with armored carriers such as Brinks, Loomis, and Malca-Amit.
  • Manage end-to-end customs clearance for cross-border shipments, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations, tariff classifications, and country-specific requirements across key trade lanes (US, EU, Switzerland).
  • Prepare, review, and maintain international shipping documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export licenses, and AES/EEI filings.
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and bonded carriers; build strong working relationships that ensure reliable, compliant transit.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve clearance delays, holds, or compliance issues, partnering with the Senior Manager, Logistics, Legal, and Finance as appropriate.

Domestic Parcel & Route Execution
  • Coordinate domestic retail parcel operations across FedEx, UPS, USPS, and DHL, ensuring timely, secure, and cost-effective movement of customer shipments.
  • Implement and continuously improve domestic and international shipping routes to drive transit time, cost, and security improvements.
  • Maintain the routing matrix that balances speed, cost, security, and insurance requirements specific to precious metals shipments.
  • Enforce packaging standards, labeling protocols, and chain-of-custody procedures across all shipping channels to minimize loss and damage.

Carrier & Vendor Negotiations
  • Lead negotiations with armored carriers, freight forwarders, and parcel carriers to secure competitive rates, service-level commitments, and favorable contract terms, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Logistics.
  • Manage carrier and broker performance scorecards, run regular business reviews, and hold partners accountable to contractual and service standards.
  • Evaluate new carrier, broker, and logistics technology partnerships and recommend opportunities to improve cost, speed, or security.
  • Coordinate with Insurance and Risk Management to ensure carrier liability terms and transit insurance coverage are appropriate for the value of goods moved.

Cost & Performance Management
  • Track and report on freight expense trends, KPIs, and variances; surface insights and recommendations to the Senior Manager, Logistics.
  • Use freight data analytics and benchmarking to identify cost-reduction and service-improvement opportunities.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Logistics in budget development and ongoing financial management of the logistics function.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational workflows, vendor management, and documentation processes.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and specialists across international freight, customs, and domestic parcel operations.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular feedback and coaching conversations, and support the career development of team members.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, urgency, and collaboration.
  • Support staffing plans and hiring decisions to ensure team capacity and capability align with business demand.

Compliance, Risk & Security
  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with applicable domestic and international trade laws, regulations, and BIG internal policies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OFAC, AML, and precious metals-specific regulatory requirements relevant to cross-border shipments.
  • Partner with Security and Risk teams to support route security reviews and mitigate exposure related to high-value in-transit cargo.
  • Help maintain and execute business continuity plans for logistics disruptions, including carrier failures, customs holds, or force majeure events.
