Position details
Job Summary
Under direct supervision, of the Math Department, Academic Department Specialist the work study performs routine job duties which include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working in the Math Lab monitoring student that use the lab
Math Test Proctor
Math Tutor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reports to work on time
Uses work time wisely/efficiently
Dresses appropriately
Works as a team member
Displays a positive & enthusiastic attitude toward MSU
Serves as the first contact to the Math Lab
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Close and continuous supervision is provided.
Minimum Requirements
You must be a Math Major OR completed College Algebra and Calculus with an A OR have an ACT of a 25 on the Math portion.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Sophomore status, 30 hours completed
Excellent academic ability and communication skills.
At least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Ability to relate to and assist students from diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.
At least an A or B in any tutored courses.
Ability to treat student information with confidentiality.
Ability to work and solve problems independently.
Ability to work with other tutors as a team member.
Interest in tutoring and serving other students.
Excellent computer skills.
Excellent writing skills
Physical Requirements Working Conditions
Quite environment, all require flexibility, as there are various multi-tasking responsibilities and pleasant public relation skills and abilities in the office. Possibly moderate to light lifting required.
