Company Description

Honda Aero, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., is located in Burlington, North Carolina. Its corporate headquarters and jet engine manufacturing operations is adjacent to Burlington-Alamance County Regional Airport. The new plant will serve as the primary production location for engines developed and marketed by GE Honda Aero Engines, LLC (a joint venture between Honda Aero and GE), beginning with the GE Honda HF120 turbofan engine, chosen to power the newest and most advanced product in the business jet market - the HondaJet .

Job Description

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains quality standards and specifications (ATP and calibration procedures) for HAI Production and Maintenance/Repair/Overhaul (MRO) to assure product quality and reliability.

Plans and coordinates activities designed to ensure assembly, testing, and maintenance of engines are consistent with established quality standards, specifications, and regulations.

Serves as the primary manufacturing resource for test cell problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Performs root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Creates and implements quality control projects based on findings.

Performs specific engineering functions, such as inspection, testing and engineering analysis to assure continuous quality over processes and products within the company.

Serves as the test cell quality engineering specialist for engine testing. Supports engine test team with engineering functions associated with calibration, equipment maintenance, engineering analysis, and final test result judgment.

Develops and analyzes data associated with assembly, test, MRO, or customer discrepancies to propose quality reliability improvements of finished product. Performs "Perfection Reviews" of finished product prior to shipment. Maintains required customer release agent status.

Provides Preliminary Review (PR) disposition for nonconforming product.

Assists in process capability studies, software quality assurance activities, and design of experiments to support process validation.

Develops, executes and analyzes quality-reporting measures. 

Assists in the management of calibration and test equipment to traceable standards. 

May compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.

Coordinator of all test cell activities, except manpower, to meet production demand.

Prepares and maintains test operating instructions and MES procedures.

Performs work order alterations and rework instructions to comply with engine test requirements and allow for work to be performed in the cell.


Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Bachelor degree in a technical field or applicable work experience

Minimum of 5 years of aerospace experience associated with quality assurance of parts and products.

Minimum of 2 years engine test experience associated with maintaining an engine test facility with final acceptance testing.

FAA Designated Manufacturing Representative (DMIR) experience is a plus.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of AS9100/FAA quality system requirements.

Knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations.

Experience implementing and improving quality management systems, writing procedures, preparing quality plans, work instructions and conducting internal and external audits.

Advanced problem solving experience using root cause analysis. Experience with Preliminary Review (PR) and/or Material Review Board (MRB) authorities.

Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation.

Experience with the mechanical, electrical, and software programming aspects of an engine test cell environment.

Strong knowledge of jet engine design and functional concepts.

Knowledge of continuous improvement and experience implementing lean manufacturing.
