Job description

Math Content Developer (Contract)
  • Location: Remote (US)
  • Employment Type: Contract, employed through a third-party staffing partner
  • Hours: 20-40 hours per week
  • Pay: $25-$30/hour, commensurate with experience

Every math problem a student sees in one of our digital products has to do two things at once: test whether they've actually understood a concept, and help them figure out what went wrong if they haven't. That's the work you'd be doing.
As a Math Content Developer, you'll write the questions, hints, solutions, and feedback that make up our digital math products. The content needs to hold up not just mathematically, but pedagogically. You'll spend your time thinking about how students get stuck, what their mistakes actually reveal about their thinking, and how to write feedback that moves them forward instead of just telling them they're wrong.
This is a contract role, remote anywhere in the U.S., with flexible weekly hours between 20 and 40. We're only considering candidates with a MS or PhD in mathematics.
What You'll Do
  • Write clear, original questions that test students' understanding and ability to apply math concepts.
  • Author hints and feedback that anticipate the mistakes students are likely to make, diagnose the misconception behind them, and coach students toward the right understanding.
  • Write complete, concise solutions to the questions you create.
  • Enter your questions, hints, solutions, and feedback directly into our content software.
  • Review digital math content for accuracy.
  • Give other contractors clear, specific feedback to help correct errors in content, spelling, grammar, or pedagogy.

What You'll Bring
  • A strong foundation in mathematics, with a Master's degree in Mathematics.
  • Recent experience teaching and/or tutoring math at the higher-education level.
  • Teaching experience in courses such as Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I-III, or Linear Algebra.
  • Experience writing original homework or test questions.
  • The ability to write questions that test conceptual understanding, not just procedure.
  • Comfort learning new software and technology quickly.

Nice to Have
  • Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT to support content strategy or quality assurance.

Education Requirements:
  • MS or PhD in Math
