Job description

Escuela Avancemos Academy is seeking a 6th-7th-grade Certified Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
Escuela Avancemos! is a K–8 Academy located in the heart of Southwest Detroit, proudly serving a diverse community with a high population of English as a Second Language (ESL) learners. We are seeking passionate, culturally responsive educators who are committed to helping all students achieve at the highest levels through rigorous instruction, restorative practices, and intentional language development support.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that supports both academic achievement and English language development. 
  • Implement culturally responsive teaching practices and ESL strategies to support diverse learners. 
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at varying levels of language proficiency. 
  • Analyze student performance and language data to inform instruction and interventions. 
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and restorative classroom environment. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues, ESL staff, and support teams to ensure student success.
  • Build strong partnerships with families and caregivers. 
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments, and required documentation. 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. 
  • Possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Middle-Level Mathematics (EX) Endorsement, or
  • Be actively enrolled in and making satisfactory progress toward obtaining a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Middle-Level Mathematics (EX) Endorsement in accordance with Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Candidates must provide documentation of current certification status or evidence of progress toward certification upon request.
