Crescent Academy is currently hiring a Math Specialist for grades 4th - 6th.
Crescent Academy serves over 500 students at grade level PreK-11. The Math Specialist is responsible for improving student achievement in mathematics for students in grades 4-6 through direct instruction, intervention services, teacher coaching, curriculum support, and data-driven decision-making. The Math Specialist will collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that all students receive high-quality mathematics instruction aligned with state standards and best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mathematics education, intervention strategies, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff while fostering a culture of academic excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Achievement and Instruction
  • Provide targeted mathematics intervention and enrichment services to students in grades 4-6.
  • Deliver small-group and individual instruction based on student needs and assessment data.
  • Support students in mastering grade-level mathematical concepts and skills.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Develop intervention plans for students who are performing below grade level.

Curriculum and Assessment
  • Assist with the implementation of the school's mathematics curriculum.
  • Analyze student assessment data, including benchmark, diagnostic, and state assessment results.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase student proficiency in mathematics.
  • Support teachers in aligning instruction with state standards and district expectations.
  • Recommend instructional resources and best practices in mathematics education.

Teacher Support and Coaching
  • Collaborate with teachers to improve mathematics instruction.
  • Model effective teaching strategies and instructional practices.
  • Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Participate in classroom observations and provide instructional feedback when requested.
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities related to mathematics instruction.

MTSS and Intervention Support
  • Serve as a member of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team.
  • Identify students requiring Tier II and Tier III interventions.
  • Monitor intervention effectiveness and communicate student progress to stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of intervention services and student outcomes.

Family and Community Engagement
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and support strategies.
  • Provide resources to families to reinforce mathematics learning at home.
  • Participate in parent conferences and school events as needed.

Professional Responsibilities
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
  • Support the mission, vision, and goals of Crescent Academy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in elementary and middle school mathematics instruction.
  • Experience with intervention programs and data analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, differentiated instruction, and best practices in mathematics education.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to analyze and interpret student performance data.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical content and instructional practices.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and assessment tools.

Work Schedule:
School-year position with additional responsibilities during professional development days, summer planning sessions, and student assessment periods as assigned.
