Job description

Build Your Career at Speedway Construction!
The Building Material Technician reports to the Building Materials Manager for daily instructions. Work functions may change throughout the workday but will revolve around the daily operations of the building material yard.
Essential Functions
  • Loading and unloading materials on delivery trucks
  • Making deliveries to commercial and residential jobsites on non-CDL flatbed trucks
  • Organize and stock material in warehouse
  • Pulling material orders
  • Rebar fabrication
  • General yard maintenance and grounds keeping
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent

Experience Qualifications
  • Preferred 1+ years experience working in construction, manufacturing, or similar industry

Skills and Abilities
  • Work well in a team environment, but also have the ability to complete tasks on their own with little supervision
  • Maintain safe work environment
  • Ability and willingness to learn and be trained to safely operate all equipment
  • Accountability
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervision, coworkers, and customers in the field

Licenses and Certifications
  • Drivers License Required
  • CDL Preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Some exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at concrete plants, including heights, moving vehicles, moving equipment, live wires, exposed wires
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, concrete, dirt
  • Indoor office conditions that include regular exposure to office equipment such as computers, copiers, mail machines, and telephones
  • Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects, loads of materials
  • Walks and stands for long periods of time
  • Bends, stoops, squats, climbs, reaches to move materials and perform repairs
  • Ability to work between 8-10 hours per day
