This Position reports to:

Project Operations Manager

Reporting to the Planning and Execution Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for translating customer orders and sales forecasts into a production schedule. The incumbent ensures planning accuracy based on raw material availability while optimizing the use of equipment and workforce resources.


This position contributes to ABB Canada's Electrification, Installation Products (ELIP) division and is based in Montreal, Quebec.


The work model for this position is100% on-site.


Responsibilities

  • Develop optimized production schedules for the assigned production cells based on sales forecasts, customer order priorities, workforce availability, and equipment capacity.
  • Initiate or participate in the development of procedures aimed at improving production processes.
  • Quickly respond to and incorporate new information provided by the Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams, adjusting production plans accordingly. Communicate production issues to the appropriate stakeholders on a daily basis.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential inventory shortages and develop appropriate action plans to mitigate supply risks.
  • Manage the procurement of components required to support the production schedule and closely monitor supplier orders.
  • Recommend corrective action plans in response to supplier delays and production schedule disruptions.
  • Complete production reports and effectively manage key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning tools and processes, and take the initiative to implement continuous improvement ideas.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in a relevant field such as Operations and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production planning, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual in French and English. English is required to communicate with customers outside of Quebec.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, initiative, and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with SAP, KBM, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams is considered an asset.
