Job Summary

Job Description

Under semi-direct supervision, performs any required manual and clerical work associated with issuing, storing, staging, shipping, picking, inventorying, accepting, and salvaging stock and non-stock material in accordance with section procedures and work practices, company safety regulations, policies, and practices. Operates all types of equipment and vehicles available in the Material Management Section including overhead cranes, rigging, forklifts, and trucks to handle and transport materials. Uses electronic data processing equipment as required in the performance of duties.

  • Handles, loads, unloads, transports, delivers, picks up, and packages material and equipment as required, using physical labor, tools, or any material handling equipment available including power assisted tools.
  • Assembles and issues stock material to users, performing any manual and clerical functions necessary.
  • Assists in the receiving, reclaiming, and shipping of materials and equipment by storing, locating, obtaining from storage, assembling, preparing for shipment, and applying, checking, and verifying proper item information.
  • Cleans, maintains, and assembles Material Management equipment and areas as assigned.
  • Transports hazardous materials in accordance with Material Management Procedures, Code of Federal Regulations Title 49, and the regulations of the PA Dept. of Transportation Hazardous Substances Transportation Board.
  • Trains other personnel in the performance of Stockman's functions.
  • Performs minor periodic inspection and maintenance of stored materials including checking and replacing temporary closures, desiccants, and protective coatings; rotating shafts; and visually inspecting equipment as directed. Under direct supervision, may check and replace lubricants, oils, gases, and fluid levels.
  • Performs inspections and minor corrective and preventive maintenance work on Material Management equipment and vehicles including (1) adding fluids, air, and lubricants, (2) cleaning vehicles as required, and (3) keeping supervision informed of vehicle and equipment conditions and performance. Prepares forklift and truck inspection reports as required.
  • Signs for delivered material. Accepts material from station personnel for disposition as directed.
  • Performs other work related to the above as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must currently hold a valid state CDL driver's license - Class 'B'
  • Ability to meet and maintain the qualifications for transporting hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to life 50 pounds and perform vigorous physical activities
  • Must have passed or be previously grandfathered on the EEI MASS exam
