Job Title:  Supervisor, Materials

What we’re looking for:


We are seeking a Supervisor, Materials who will be responsible for overseeing all inbound shipments, material movement and storage/control of materials.  This person will also properly manage staff to meet all of the following requirements through standard processes, and process control, through strict adherence to division and corporate policies.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Manage material inventory and spot checks as needed.
  • Help establish continuous improvement processes that result in the most effective use of all resources, reducing costs, and improving quality.
  • Implement Supermarkets, Kanban’s and other visual management systems for materials.
  • Creates, trains, and implements standard work and SOPs to improve processes, such as, handler routes, waste reduction, and material control.
  • Apply best industry practices in the safe handling of merchandise to minimize damage; in addition to, to identify new and/or unique programs to differentiate customers from the marketplace and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Implement safety and security procedures to ensure a safe working environment and ensure the entire warehouse is clean, neat, and safe.
  • Regularly manage material needs in terms of space, material flow, and labor required
  • Partner with key cross-functional partners to solicit customer and associates’ feedback to identify program improvement opportunities for implementation.
  • Develop, communicate, and analyze departmental key performance indicator metrics.
  • Consults with assigned clients to understand their distribution networks, and determine the logistics resources required to support equipment, safety, personnel and maintenance.
  • Exercise management and coordination functions with various company functions (purchasing, finance, etc.)
  • Conceive, present, and implement cost, stock and lead-time reduction projects.
  • Work in conjunction with various parties such as business development, field support, and customer service to handle complaints and ensure support plans are in place to maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Analyze technology and distribution network trends and implements changes in department as appropriate.
  • Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product.
  • Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Motivate and reward employees according to company guidelines.
  • Recommend operating and personnel budgets for approval.
  • Root cause analysis and problem resolution for all logistics operations.
  • Monitor the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
  • Identify, and address any supplier shipment stock anomalies.
  • Keep accurate records of all stock movements for proper inventory control, including the management of a daily cycle count program.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environment
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • B.S. Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or Logistics preferred.
