Primary Job Responsibilities
Develop and maintain material and inventory control systems.
Manage material scheduling in a Just-in-Time (JIT) environment.
Support material activities associated with a Directed Buy process and assist in resolving contract management issues impacting material availability.
Manage accurate inventory records for all parts within Company's ERP system (MfgPro) and customer's MRP system.
Monitor material flow between suppliers, Company, and the customer to ensure production requirements are met, proactively preventing crisis situations.
Develop and maintain a plan for every part (PFEP) database.
Analyze part specifications to resolve specification errors.
Analyze engineering changes and take appropriate actions to address material impact in support of the product launch/program.
Develop and manage inbound premium freight when necessary.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the customer and supplier base.
Support plant teams with Receiving Dock, Shipping Dock, and material storage issues.
Assist in development and continuous improvement of plant layouts.
Follow safe practices.
Champion all local supply chain system processes/documents.
Draft and release all documents and approve any proposed changes to the local supply chain processes.
Developing, monitoring and implementing the team's annual goals through its ongoing continuous improvement activities.
Providing Materials support and expertise.
All other duties as assigned.
Expectations
Proficiency with Material Control Systems and Materials Requirement Planning Systems (QAD's MfgPro and preferably customer specific MRP and container management systems).
Working knowledge of material flows, layouts, packaging and containerization.
Ability to plan and analyze production requirements and implement supporting material systems and business processes.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and leadership ability, especially for collaborating with others internally and externally to accomplish goals and resolve issues.
Highly organized and detailed to establish priorities, identify and set goals.
Able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and be able to perform self-initiated and planned activities.
Knowledge of IATF 16949 and other customer specific requirements.
Tact, a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus.
Ability to reconcile accounts.
Functions well in a team environment.
Enjoys spending time analyzing, questioning, discussing and implementing new ideas.
Demonstrated and creative ability to solve problems.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft suite of software, particularly MS Excel and use of spreadsheets for managing and analyzing data.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree (Materials Management, Finance, or Business Administration) required. APICS certification preferred.
Experience: 7+ years Materials Management experience in the automotive industry.
