Job Summary

The Material Supervisor is responsible for overseeing locomotive and railcar inventory and warehouse management within CN's Prairie Region. The incumbent communicates with internal and external stakeholders, and monitors important Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including inventory stock-out scenarios, assets held for material status, days lost, material cost trending, and inventory levels. The position is responsible for material, operations and compliance management.

Main ResponsibilitiesMaterial Management

       Oversee all material movements including requests, orders, picks, counts, packs, inspection, stores, returns, etc.

       Handle cycle and demand counts, and validate reconciliation reports

       Report on assets held for material, days lost on assets due to material reduction and elimination of stock out scenarios

       Maintain inventory levels below threshold communicated by Material Planning leadership team

Locomotive Warehouse and Railcar Material Management

       Supervise, plan, and participate in daily locomotive warehouse and railcar material including the standardization of inventory management documentation

       Handle repairable and exchange core return processes and financial compliance

       Communicate with shop-floor management (e.g. Planning and Forecasting, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and other stakeholders)

Compliance Management

       Provide input into staff administration including payroll, staff actions, and job bulletins

       Ensure adherence to CN safety standards, manage safety inspections, service logs, warehouse safety job briefing books (WSJB), and related maintenance

Operations Management

       Supervise coordination of in- and out-bound material logistics, including preparing, tracing, and expediting

       Oversee shipping and processing of cores, repair and return items, and warranty items per Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and Core Pool requirements

       Organize and manage physical warehouse

       Leverage utilization of technology and ensure members are using mobility devices

       Consolidate, optimize and implement 5 S and 6S processes and policies throughout all locations

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role must be physically able to conduct shop visits and inspections.

RequirementsExperience

Supply Chain

       Minimum 3 years of Supply Chain experience including 3 PL and 4 PL and other logistic channels to optimize on-time delivery

Education/Certification/Designation

       Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or equivalent, or 5 years of Warehousing Management or equivalent

       Ability to collect and analyze data from multiple sources and platforms

       Knowledge of CN's network as well as CN's Transportation and Mechanical departments

       Proficient in material management, procurement strategies, and policies including warehouse and inventory management
