Job description

Role Overview
We're hiring an Environmental Specialist to join our onsite HSE technical team supporting Kodak's Specialty Chemicals, Inks and Dispersions (SCID) manufacturing. The technical team provides direct, operational HSE support services, and this role will particularly focus on environmental compliance and reporting, as well as identifying and mitigating environmental hazards associated with chemical manufacturing operations.
As an Environmental Specialist, you will focus on preventing pollution and providing a safe and healthy workplace for Kodak employees and others. You will work with a team of HSE Specialists and report to the SCID HSE Manager, ensuring operations comply with regulatory requirements, conform to internal standards, and meet sustainability objectives. The operations span multiple buildings and include 24/7 operations, over 200 employees and ten supervisors. The successful candidate must actively engage with cross-functional peers in HSE, Operations, and Facilities, to address workplace health, safety and environmental concerns and improve overall performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide environmental technical support to ensure the operations follow all air quality, water quality, waste management and any other applicable environmental regulations and permit requirements.
2. Monitor, evaluate and document compliance with environmental permit conditions. Complete environmental reporting including SARA, TRI and Title V Air reports.
3. Participate in management of change reviews and job hazard analyses to identify and evaluate hazards, recommend occupational exposure controls such as PPE and provide guidance for the disposition of waste.
4. Oversee the relationship with third-party service providers for the compliant management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, empty container disposition and expired material management.
5. Assist with emergency response for environmental releases.
6. Participate in incident and near miss investigations, identify and implement corrective actions.
7. Provide HSE guidance for new product development.
8. Support the hazard communication program, address questions concerning Safety Data Sheets, Kodak Hazard Ratings and communicate changes to appropriate staff.
9. Deliver environmental training to department personnel.
10. Provide input for standard operating procedures and work instructions.
11. Monitor and determine applicability of new regulatory requirements and implement changes to ensure conformance.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes. Previous direct experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated operations preferred.
• Working knowledge of Federal, state, local health, safety and environment requirements (OSHA, EPA, air, water, waste)
• Knowledge and experience with ISO management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Self-starter able to work without daily supervision
• Previous experience applying a risk-based approach to environmental management
• Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manner and build relationships.
• Able to organize and coordinate multiple requirements/projects/processes simultaneously.
• Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner.
• Able to analyze complex problems, search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions.
• Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms.
• Excellent computer skills including advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables & formulas). Knowledge of Power BI and cloud-based HSE management software systems (e.g. VelocityEHS, Benchmark Gensuite) preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry or related field.
• 1-5 years of relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
