Position Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, staging, and tracking of materials throughout the facility to support manufacturing operations. This position ensures materials are accurately identified, properly transacted, and delivered to the appropriate locations in a safe and timely manner. The Material Handler supports inventory accuracy through material transactions, cycle count activities, and adherence to established inventory control procedures.

Essential Job Functions

    • Organize, kit, issue, store, deliver, and return raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, transfers, vendor returns, and nonconforming material throughout the facility.
    • Support production schedules by ensuring materials are delivered to designated work centers and staging locations as required.
    • Perform material transactions, scanning, labeling, and documentation to maintain inventory accuracy and traceability.
    • Maintain proper material identification and ensure inventory is stored in the correct locations.
    • Follow FIFO practices.
    • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.
    • Read, understand, complete, and maintain receiving, shipping, transfer, and inventory documentation.
    • Communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged material, and concerns to the Material Handler Supervisor.
    • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
    • Follow the blue/red tag process for material requiring review.
    • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and staging areas.
    • Support other departments and overtime requirements as needed

Skills and Abilities

Work Environment:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee works in a manufacturing and warehouse environment and is exposed to moving equipment, forklifts, trucks, machinery, noise, seasonal temperatures, and open dock doors.


Physical Demands:

The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, handle materials, operate equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds using safe lifting techniques. Vision and hearing abilities are required.
