Are you a detail-oriented individual seeking a new opportunity to leverage your skills within Deloitte Services LP? We are looking for an energetic Payroll Tax professional to carry out critical payroll tax responsibilities, including employer tax deposits, return preparation, reconciliations, and filings, to ensure accurate and timely payroll tax compliance across multiple work location jurisdictions and numerous Deloitte US entities within our Finance & Administration organization office based in Hermitage, TN.

As a Senior Services Support Associate, you will use your organizational skills and attention to detail to assist with complex US payroll tax compliance activities involving mandated federal, state, and local tax deposit and filing requirements. You will review information to ensure accurate Payroll Tax withholding occurred (US Federal / State / Local). You will complete payroll tax state and local payments and filings in accordance with jurisdictional requirements in support of numerous Deloitte US entities. You will maintain a high level of professional and ethical standards in communicating with both external and internal contacts. The role may require flexibility around overtime. This role provides support for the US Firm biweekly Payroll, involving over 75,000 employees and requires accuracy, timeliness, and disciplined execution against rigorous statutory deadlines across federal, state, and local taxing authorities:

  • Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local payroll tax, unemployment, and disability insurance regulations and requirements by reconciling biweekly payroll tax liabilities and completing all required regulatory deposits and filings accurately and on time.
  • Aid in the preparation of all required US quarterly and annual employer return entity filings including the preparation and dispatch of W-2's, W-2c's, 941's, 940's, and state and local reconciliations for multiple Deloitte US entity tax jurisdictions.
  • Make required US tax returns and deposits via latest technology possible including internet, electronic funds transfer, and manual filings using available electronic filing platforms, electronic funds transfer methods, and manual processes mandated by jurisdiction-specific rules and deadlines.
  • Maintain a customer service center providing payroll tax support and SAP system expertise to various Deloitte internal personnel and departments, including support for multi-entity payroll tax processing and issue resolution.
  • Research unusual employee situations involving complex US payroll tax issues, including multi-state withholding, reciprocal agreements, local tax treatment, and other jurisdiction-specific requirements.
  • Perform other payroll tax compliance tasks, reconciliations, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience US payroll and payroll tax laws and procedures.
  • Experience with federal, state and local US taxation jurisdictions and managing compliance obligations across multiple legal entities and work locations.
  • Experience of multi-state regulations in the US where reciprocal agreements exist.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.

Preferred:

  • MasterTax (ADP) software experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Puerto Rico and/or Canada payroll tax is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP HCM Payroll is a plus.
