Job description
- Computes and prepares tax returns for Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax, Payroll Tax, and other State and Local Tax returns.
- Ensures all tax payments are made timely.
- Ensures that all workflows, procedures, forms, and returns are compliant with various state and federal regulations. Participates in developing and maintaining departmental workflows and procedures.
- Performs monthly/quarterly tax account reconciliations.
- Assists business units with questions related to general ledger tax account reconciliations.
- Assists Tax Supervisor/Manager with research, respond to document requests, participation in issues resolution, and analysis of proposed adjustments.
- Responds to inquiries from States and other taxing authorities.
- Complies with internal controls.
- Stays informed with tax industry updates.
- Works in team environment within the tax team and with other departments to troubleshoot problems or tax issues encountered in preparation process.
- Researches tax rules in order to minimize sales and use tax liabilities.
- Works on special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 1-3 years' experience or similar co-op experience in one or more of the following tax types - Sales and Use tax, Property tax, Payroll Tax in a multistate capacity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- MasterTax and/or CorpSales experience preferred, but not required.
- Advanced Excel skills including Filtering, Creating and Using Pivot Tables and V-Look-up.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work well with a team and to work overtime during certain times of the year or as needed.
