Site Reliability Engineer II The BizOps team at Mastercard is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who thrives on solving complex problems, building robust CI/CD pipelines, and leading the organization in DevOps automation and best practices.

Business Operations (BizOps) is at the forefront of Mastercard’s DevOps transformation, leading the charge through tooling, automation, and advocacy across development, quality, release, and product teams.

Mission
BizOps ensures production readiness by partnering closely with developers to design, build, implement, and support services. Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring operational excellence in availability, performance, capacity, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automation.
Supporting daily operations with a focus on root cause analysis and business impact.
Driving the “shift-left” approach, engaging early in development to enhance reliability.
Managing risk and compliance across all environments.
Standardizing and streamlining traditional support functions.
Acting as a key communication bridge between internal and external stakeholders.
Aligning product and customer priorities with operational needs.
Responsibilities
Engage in and improve the entire service lifecycle – from design to deployment and operations.
Analyze ITSM platform activities and provide feedback to development teams on operational gaps and resiliency issues.
Provide system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch readiness support.
Monitor and maintain system availability, latency, and health.
Scale systems through automation and reliability-focused improvements.
Support and improve the CI/CD pipeline for software promotion, enforcing validation and operational gating.
Lead DevOps automation initiatives and best practices at Mastercard.
Drive sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
Take a holistic approach to problem-solving during production incidents, improving Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
Work effectively with a globally distributed team across multiple time zones.
Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, scripting, software design, and pipeline management.
Systematic problem-solving approach with excellent communication, ownership, and drive.
Experience debugging and optimizing code, and automating manual tasks.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make decisions with urgency.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby.
Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and troubleshooting them effectively.
Experience with CI/CD tools, such as:
Git/BitBucket
Jenkins
Maven
Artifactory
Chef
Strong background in designing and implementing efficient CI/CD flows that get code from development to production with high quality and minimal manual effort.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.

O'Fallon, Missouri: $76,000 - $127,000 USD
