StateView Hotel, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, adjacent to North Carolina State University and overlooking Lake Raleigh. The hotel boasts 164 guest rooms and 8,000 sq ft of event space, offering upscale accommodations, exceptional meeting and event space, and strong connections to the local community, university, corporate, and government markets.

Position Overview

The Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) is responsible for leading the overall commercial strategy for StateView Hotel. Reporting directly to the General Manager and partnering closely with Pyramid Global Hospitality’s regional sales, revenue management, and marketing leaders, this role drives top‑line revenue performance across all segments, including group, corporate, transient, leisure, catering, and university‑related business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all sales and marketing initiatives with a focus on corporate, association, university‑related, government, social, and group business, aligned with Autograph Collection brand standards and Marriott commercial strategies.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Sales & Marketing Business Plan supporting revenue objectives, market positioning, and ownership goals.
  • Drive direct sales efforts using Marriott Global Sales resources, CI/TY, and Bonvoy channels while proactively prospecting, engaging clients, and developing business.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Marriott Global Sales, key accounts, university stakeholders, corporate partners, destination organizations, and meeting planners.
  • Expand market share through targeted strategies focused on corporate travel, university events, athletic programs, alumni groups, associations, government business, and SMERF segments.
  • Strategically manage key accounts and develop long‑term partnerships that generate sustainable revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, segmentation, forecasting, and channel strategy using Marriott systems and best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and marketing team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and performance excellence.
  • Oversee all marketing initiatives, including digital marketing, social media, public relations, local partnerships, content strategy, and promotional campaigns that enhance the hotel’s visibility and market presence.
  • Represent the hotel within the Raleigh community and actively participate in industry organizations, networking events, and destination partnerships.
  • Prepare and present accurate forecasts, sales reports, market analyses, and business reviews to ownership and executive leadership.
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Committee, contributing to overall hotel strategy, guest satisfaction initiatives, operational excellence, and culture development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive hotel sales experience, with at least 2+ years in a Director of Sales & Marketing or Director of Sales leadership role within a full‑service, upscale, lifestyle, or luxury hotel.
  • Marriott experience strongly preferred, including proficiency in CI/TY and familiarity with Marriott sales, revenue, and distribution systems.
  • Proven success driving group, corporate, catering, and transient business within highly competitive markets.
  • Experience selling to corporate, association, government, university, and social segments is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in direct selling, strategic account management, business development, and revenue generation.
  • Strong understanding of hospitality marketing, digital strategy, and brand positioning.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to influence ownership, brand stakeholders, community partners, and key clients.
  • Dynamic, entrepreneurial leader with a passion for people development and achieving ambitious revenue goals.
  • Knowledge of the Raleigh‑Durham market and higher education‑related business drivers is highly preferred.
