A marketplace intern is a temporary position where an individual supports the operations of an online marketplace platform. Responsibilities often include assisting with product listings, customer service, data analysis, and learning about e-commerce tools and processes under supervision.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a Marketplace Intern expect to handle on a daily basis?

As a Marketplace Intern, you can expect to assist with tasks such as analyzing marketplace data, monitoring product listings, supporting vendor communications, and helping optimize the user experience on the platform. Interns often collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and customer support, to ensure smooth marketplace operations. You'll likely participate in meetings, help with reporting, and contribute to ongoing initiatives aimed at improving marketplace performance—gaining exposure to both the strategic and operational sides of e-commerce.

Interns typically work under the guidance of marketplace managers or e-commerce teams and may contribute to projects that improve customer experience or boost sales.

To thrive as a Marketplace Intern, you generally need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a background in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, data analysis tools like Excel or Google Analytics, and sometimes experience with CRM systems is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are standout soft skills for this role.
