What is a marketing operations manager?

A marketing operations manager supervises marketing department staff to maintain productivity and smooth operations. Unlike a marketing project manager who focuses on a particular marketing campaign, a marketing operations manager oversees the overall marketing department and ensures the staff meets their goals. Job duties include evaluating market trends to develop new marketing strategies, creating department goals, delegating project tasks to employees, and training new marketing employees. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, extensive marketing experience, and leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a marketing operations manager?

To thrive as a Marketing Operations Manager, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analysis, project management, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (like HubSpot or Marketo), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required, along with certifications such as Salesforce or Google Analytics. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help drive cross-functional collaboration and process optimization. These skills ensure seamless marketing execution, data-driven decision-making, and alignment between marketing initiatives and overall business objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by marketing operations managers when aligning marketing technology with organizational goals?

Marketing Operations Managers often encounter challenges when ensuring that marketing technology stacks effectively support broader business objectives. Integrating new tools with existing systems, maintaining data accuracy across platforms, and securing buy-in from cross-functional teams can be complex. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving marketing technologies while balancing cost and utility requires ongoing attention. Successful Marketing Operations Managers proactively communicate with stakeholders, regularly evaluate tech performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to address these hurdles.

Job description

Position: PT Growth Marketing and AI Coordinator
Firm: Gregory Financial
Location: Springfield, MO
Overview:
Gregory Financial is searching for a proactive, entrepreneurial professional to join our team as a PT Growth Marketing amp; AI Coordinator. In this role, you’ll build and manage digital marketing campaigns, implement innovative AI solutions, and help launch new client services, including our Wealth.com estate-planning platform.
This role is more than admin, social media, or appointment setting—we want a self-starter who turns ideas into results. If you’re an entrepreneurial marketer or freelancer seeking flexible, impactful work with real growth potential, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll do:
  • Plan and manage advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, with opportunities to expand to YouTube and other platforms
  • Develop ad concepts, write copy, create video ideas, design landing pages, and build lead-nurture campaigns
  • Support marketing efforts for retirement planning, insurance, and Wealth.com estate-planning services
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, lead generation costs, appointments, and overall business outcomes
  • Leverage ChatGPT, Claude, automation tools, and AI agents to enhance marketing and business operations
  • Create reusable AI workflows, prompts, systems, and standard operating procedures for the team
  • Assist in coordinating Wealth.com inquiries, scheduling, client onboarding, document follow-up, and attorney meetings
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure timely and professional lead follow-up
  • Manage advertising and communications through the company’s compliance review process
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience designing or overseeing digital marketing campaigns
  • Hands-on familiarity with ChatGPT, Claude, AI automation, or similar tools
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and follow-through skills
  • Analytical approach, focused on tracking results over effort
  • Experience in financial services or regulated industries is a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability and initiative matter more to us than formal credentials or résumé polish
Growth Path
This role is designed to grow with the firm, with additional opportunities available.
Pay, Perks, amp; Schedule:
  • $1,000 monthly retainer
  • Estimated 15–20 hours per month
  • Flexible hours with regular in-person collaboration in Springfield
  • Gregory Financial covers advertising costs separately
  • Performance bonuses available for reaching marketing goals and completed paid estate-planning engagements (pending compliance approval)
  • Initial 90-day contract, with potential for increased responsibilities and compensation based on results
  • This role offers a chance to help launch new revenue-generating services, not just maintain existing functions.
