A Marketing Leadership Program is a specialized training initiative, often offered by companies or universities, designed to develop future marketing leaders. These programs typically combine hands-on job rotations, mentorship, and formal learning to build skills in areas like brand management, digital marketing, and market strategy. Participants gain exposure to various functions within marketing, preparing them for leadership roles. Many programs target recent graduates or early-career professionals with high potential. Completion of a Marketing Leadership Program can accelerate career progression within the marketing field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Marketing Leadership Program?

To thrive in a Marketing Leadership Program, you need a solid understanding of marketing fundamentals, data analysis, and strategic planning, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree. Familiarity with digital marketing tools, analytics platforms (like Google Analytics), and CRM systems is typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving skills help candidates stand out. These competencies are crucial for driving impactful campaigns, leading teams, and achieving business objectives in a dynamic marketing environment.

What types of projects and rotations can participants expect in a Marketing Leadership Program?

Job description

We are looking for a Staff Program Manager who is passionate about bringing planning rigor and scalable operational excellence to marketing - including shaping how we operate in the era of AI.

As a Staff Program Manager, Marketing Operations at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to revolutionizing cloud computing and AI. Reporting to the Director of Marketing Operations, you'll be marketing leadership's trusted planning partner - turning priorities into operating cadences, decision-ready materials, and clear owners, milestones, and outcomes. You'll own planning and cross-functional coordination across marketing programs, co-owning execution alongside functional leads - for example, partnering with our Product Marketing Lead to bring the programmatic rigor that keeps product launches on track. Beyond individual programs, you'll help shape how marketing operates as a team, including where AI-powered tools can drive more scalable, efficient ways of working.

What You'll Do:
  • Own planning and cross-functional coordination for marketing programs, co-owning execution with functional leads (e.g., partnering with Product Marketing on launch planning and execution) to keep initiatives moving from kickoff to completion.
  • Build and run operating cadences with marketing leadership (status reviews, business reviews, planning cycles) that keep priorities, risks, dependencies, and next steps visible.
  • Help define how marketing operates together - establishing the operating model, rituals, and ways of working that scale as the team and its remit grow.
  • Partner across marketing's functions, along with product, sales, engineering, finance, and partner teams, to align roadmaps, launches, and go-to-market plays with measurable business outcomes.
  • Track budget, resourcing, and approval workflows in support of program and partnership investments, surfacing risks and decision points to marketing leadership.
  • Lead co-marketing and cross-functional program execution for partner- and customer-facing initiatives (e.g., events, campaigns, customer storytelling), connecting product content to field and business outcomes.
  • Synthesize inputs from product, technical, partner, and customer stakeholders into decision-ready briefings, dashboards, and KPI reporting for marketing leadership.
  • Help shape marketing operations for the AI era - identifying and implementing AI-powered tools and workflows that drive scalable operational and programmatic excellence.
Key Metrics:
  • On-time delivery rate for marketing programs and campaign launches
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with program management and planning support
  • Program cycle time from kickoff to launch
  • Budget and resourcing forecast accuracy
  • Roadmap adherence and reduction in scope churn
Compensation Range:ย
  • $150,000 - $190,000
