Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Retail Marketing at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a Retail Marketing Team responsible for developing point-of-sale (POS) and in-store marketing materials for distribution in the US, Canada, and global markets. This role also works on retail accounts or projects as assigned and drives revenue for Garmin and dealers by creating solutions that help customers easily locate Garmin's products at retail and understand product features and benefits, resulting in sales transactions.
Essential Functions
  • Supervises a team of Retail Marketing Associates and works on retail accounts or projects as assigned
  • Fosters a team environment that represents Garmin's service and values
  • Leads, develops and approves in-store marketing solutions as assigned for distribution in the US, Canada, or global markets
  • Recommends retail business opportunities and makes sound decisions with a focus on ROI
  • Meets with associates regularly to help with their projects and guides associates to ensure they are on brand, on schedule, on budget, and are compliant with all internal/external requirements
  • Takes the lead on troubleshooting/resolving any issues that may arise amongst the team and keeps retail marketing leadership informed in a timely manner requesting assistance when needed
  • Uses Jira to provide comprehensive internal and external project capacity, planning, resourcing and status updates to retail marketing leadership on a regular basis
  • Ensures all steps are followed within the retail marketing development process
  • Ensures retail projects have a cohesive campaign experience across all marketing deliverables
  • Regularly evaluates the competitive retail landscape, consumer shopping insights, technologies, trends, and ensures Garmin's retail solutions are positioned as best in class when approving assigned projects
  • Builds strong rapport with retailers, suppliers, and other business partners
  • Works with leadership to on-board new suppliers
  • Works closely with an internal cross-functional team consisting of Sales, Marketing Communications, Demand Planning, Order Admin, Purchasing and Transportation
  • Develops processes and process improvements as needed to support the retail marketing business and documents/trains associates and suppliers on these procedures
  • Remains current on and ensures the team adheres to Garmin and dealer policies/procedures and ensures the team keeps these documents updated for the team to reference throughout the year
  • Attends sales meetings, tradeshows, promotional events and supplier meetings as needed
  • Off-site business travel required
  • Assists retail marketing leadership with budget forecasting
  • Evaluates, hires, and trains new associates with the help of retail marketing leadership
  • Assists retail marketing leadership with the performance evaluation process
  • Makes suggestions to retail marketing leadership on the team's career path progression

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, operations, or project management OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must be an effective leader with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional internal and external teams
  • Excellent supplier management, negotiation, production, and budget management experience
  • Ability to create and maintain cohesive relationships with customers, suppliers and Garmin associates
  • Superior written, verbal, presentation and communication skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Jira and Oracle
  • Has a proficient understanding of retail merchant terminology and business ROI

Desired Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Possesses technical knowledge to approve and successfully implement consumer electronic live products, product ecosystems, interactive demos, commercial grade video monitors, commercial grade touch screen monitors, powered security brackets, lighted retail marketing and other technical solutions at retail.
  • Custom display design and CAD software proficiency.
  • Experience developing and approving technical retail marketing solutions in global markets.
  • Ability to ensure display technology is simple for consumers to understand while allowing them to experience our product offerings.
  • Experience leading a team that installs, maintains and resolves technical display malfunctions in retail stores.
  • Experience developing and approving assembly and installation instructions.
