Job description

Description
Senior Retail Marketing Manager (DOE up to Marketing Director)
Do you see opportunity where others see regulations? Can you turn customer insights into measurable growth? Are you passionate about creating marketing strategies that keep customers coming back while attracting new ones?
PTCE is looking for a Senior Retail Marketing Manager to lead marketing for Commencement Bay Cannabis, our five-store retail operation. This role owns customer acquisition, customer retention, promotional strategy, digital marketing, and retail brand execution while partnering closely with the Prismatic Brands marketing team on product launches and retail merchandising.
This leadership role is for someone who loves blending strategy, creativity, analytics, and execution - someone who can set the vision and lead a talented team to deliver it.
Candidates who bring director-level experience will be considered for the Marketing Director title and compensation band.
About the Role
You'll own the entire customer journey from attracting new customers and converting first-time shoppers into loyal advocates to building promotional campaigns that increase traffic, basket size, and customer value. Working closely with the Vendor Manager, Retail Buyer, Store Managers, and executive team, you'll develop data-driven marketing strategies that keep us competitive.
You'll also lead a team of 2-3 marketing professionals (full-time employees and contractors). This role suits someone who's equally comfortable setting strategy and getting hands-on with execution - and who's energized by the specific challenges of marketing in a regulated industry.
What You'll Be Doing
Strategic Marketing Leadership:
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that drive customer acquisition, retention, revenue growth, and speak directly to our target markets and customer segments
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis, and translate insights into actionable strategy
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets
  • Own the annual marketing roadmap, setting priorities and budget across every channel

Customer Retention & Loyalty
  • Own customer retention strategy across all retail channels
  • Develop campaigns that increase purchase frequency and customer value
  • Manage and optimize our loyalty program
  • Drive engagement through our mobile app, email marketing, and SMS
  • Build segmented customer journeys based on purchasing behavior
  • Measure retention, churn, repeat purchase rate, and customer value

Promotions Strategy & Vendor Coordination:
  • Lead the strategy, planning, execution, and performance analysis of promotional campaigns across all retail locations in our hypercompetitive, discount-driven market - setting the marketing strategy and rationale behind which offers we run, when, and why.
  • Partner with the Vendor Manager to evaluate vendor-proposed promotions against our brand strategy, margin goals, and customer data - pushing back where a proposal doesn't serve our goals
  • Work with the retail buyer and store managers to coordinate campaign timelines with inventory, seasonality, and store-level performance
  • Direct our email and social teams to turn the calendar into content, campaigns, and comms schedules
  • Partner with the retail team to ensure promotions show up consistently in-store, in displays, and on our ecommerce menu
  • Analyze promotional campaign performance and recommend adjustments for future cycles

Brand Building & Storytelling:
  • Shape and evolve our brand identity across all our businesses, ensuring consistency across every touchpoint
  • Position our brands as trusted, credible leaders in cannabis through consistent messaging and storytelling
  • Create and maintain brand guidelines that keep marketing consistent across every channel and campaign
  • Partner with store leadership to improve customer experience

Multi-Channel Marketing:
  • Lead digital marketing efforts across SEO, social media, email/SMS campaigns, and website optimization
  • Execute traditional marketing - print, outdoor advertising, events - to reach our diverse audiences, build brand recognition, and increase new customer acquisition
  • Integrate digital and traditional channels into a cohesive marketing approach

Product Marketing & Launches:
  • Partner with the Prismatic Brands product development team to build go-to-market strategies for new products
  • Develop product marketing campaigns that tell the story behind what we create

Marketing Analytics & Performance
  • Define KPIs across all marketing channels
  • Build recurring executive reporting
  • Analyze campaign performance and ROAS

Team Leadership & Development:
  • Manage hiring, scheduling, coaching, and performance reviews for 2-3 professionals
  • Foster a culture where creativity and data-driven decision-making both thrive, and the team grows professionally
  • Balance hands-on marketing work with strategic leadership

QUALIFICATIONS - What We're Looking For
The Must-Haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
  • 6+ years of marketing experience, including at least 2 years in cannabis or another highly regulated industry
  • 2+ years of digital marketing experience across SEO, social media, SMS, and email marketing
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Proven track record developing and executing marketing strategy in multi-location or highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of cannabis industry trends, regulations, and consumer behavior
  • Demonstrated expertise in brand development and digital marketing
  • Experience building and managing promotional or trade marketing calendars, ideally in a retail or vendor-funded environment
  • Must be 21+

The Nice-to-Haves:
  • Advanced degree in marketing, business, or a related field
  • Hands-on cannabis compliance experience
  • Experience in retail, CPG, hospitality, or analytics industries
  • Experience working in a vertically integrated business with both B2B and B2C sales channels
  • Experience with Alpine IQ, Jane, Dutchie, Google Analytics, Asana, and Adobe Creative Suite

The X-Factors We Love:
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking
  • Creative problem-solving that finds opportunity in every challenge
  • Excellent communication skills - able to inspire a team, engage stakeholders, and negotiate partnerships
  • Genuine passion for cannabis and what this industry represents
  • Data-driven decision making balanced with creative intuition
