Job description

Marketing Assistant
Commitment: Permanent, part-time or full-time
Location: Gig Harbor, WA (on-site, no exceptions)
Reports to: Director of Marketing
Compensation: $30/hour, non-exempt
Travel: Occasional (press trips, farm visits, partner locations)
About the Role
We're looking for someone with a good eye, a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, and more curiosity than experience. This is a role where you'll learn a lot, do a lot, and see your work out in the world-every week.
You'll work alongside a small, hands-on team and touch a bit of everything: email, social, photoshoots, partnerships, and design assets. You won't own big strategy on day one, but you'll be close to it-and the more you bring, the more you'll take on.
What matters most isn't your resume. It's your taste, instincts, and whether you actually like making things. If you've ever redesigned something just because it bugged you, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
At a high level, you'll help the marketing team move faster and make more-across ideas and execution.
That includes:
  • Writing and helping execute marketing emails and social posts (this is a core part of the role)
  • Coming up with ideas for campaigns, email, and social
  • Capturing content and helping bring it to life
  • Creating simple design assets (Canva/Adobe)
  • Supporting photoshoots and partnerships
  • Keeping things organized-assets, timelines, deliverables

Also here at Farmgirl, we do the work. The creative, the scrappy, and everything in between. One hour might be writing a marketing email, the next might be scrubbing buckets or processing flowers. If something needs to get done, we do it. We're looking for someone who sees that, leans in, and takes initiative-without being asked-and with a genuinely positive attitude.
How You Think About the Work
  • You like making things and don't need a perfect brief to get started. You have taste-even if you can't always explain it yet-and you notice when something feels off (or right).
  • You're curious about how things get made-design, video, copy-and you'd rather figure things out than be told. You're organized enough to follow through and flexible enough to shift gears quickly.
  • You care more about the work being good than getting credit for it.
Creative Fit
Our aesthetic is grounded, warm, and timeless-more in line with Flamingo Estate, The Lost Kitchen, early Food52, Kinfolk, Martha Stewart, and Magnolia.
If you feel a genuine connection to those brands, your work will naturally reflect what we're building here. If not, this likely isn't the right fit.
We gravitate toward work that feels simple, real, and understated-not overly stylized or theatrical. We don't chase trends, and we avoid anything that feels overproduced or "marketing 101." No "we dream in flowers" or "will you accept this rose" energy.
We're looking for someone who can take something ordinary and make it feel worth paying attention to-without trying too hard.
Who You Are
  • You have a strong eye-for design, copy, and detail
  • You enjoy making things and getting better at it
  • You're flexible, curious, and willing to jump in anywhere
  • You don't overthink getting started
  • You show up with a great attitude-even when the work isn't glamorous
  • You're easy to work with on both the fun and messy days
  • You can write like a real person (for email and social especially)
  • You want to grow-this role can evolve in a lot of directions
Experience & Tools
Experience isn't required-taste and effort are.
If you've used Canva, Adobe tools, CapCut, or built strong decks, tell us. If not, show us something you've made.
Familiarity with social platforms is a plus.
Location & Logistics
This is an in-person role in Gig Harbor, WA. No hybrid (unless you're a lily-bonus points if you know what that means).
Benefits
Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage are also available for employees. Employees can enroll in our Flexible Spending Accounts program and the company's 401(k) plan, which includes a company match. Fringe benefits are available for this role. Lastly, this role is subject to our paid time off/sick policy.
