Job description

We are a well-established regional law firm that prioritizes our employees, fosters a collaborative environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional service to clients across a broad range of industries. We are currently seeking a Marketing & Business Development Manager to join our Houston, TX office. While the position is Houston-based, there is flexibility to work from The Woodlands office as needed. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and a collaborative marketing team to drive strategic growth initiatives across one of the Gulf South's leading law firms.
We are looking for a candidate with 5–7 years of professional services marketing experience, preferably within the legal industry. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and executing marketing and business development strategies, managing client-facing initiatives, supporting proposal development, and collaborating with attorneys to strengthen client relationships and expand market presence. Experience supporting the energy and petrochemical sectors and familiarity with the Texas business market are highly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement marketing and business development strategies at the attorney, practice group, office, and firm levels.
  • Partner with attorneys to support business development goals, client relationship initiatives, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Manage marketing projects, client-facing events, sponsorships, seminars, speaking engagements, and networking opportunities.
  • Coordinate relationships with Texas-based and national industry organizations to enhance firm visibility.
  • Research market trends, competitive intelligence, and business opportunities to identify thought leadership and client development initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of pitches, RFP responses, proposals, and presentation materials, including coordinating rehearsals and strategy sessions.
  • Coordinate media relations, external communications, website updates, blogs, social media content, legal directory submissions, and attorney rankings.
  • Develop, maintain, and update marketing collateral, attorney biographies, practice group descriptions, experience lists, and other business development materials.
  • Maintain marketing databases, CRM information, mailing lists, and client contact information.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Director of Business Development, attorneys, practice groups, and the firm's multi-office marketing team on strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with firmwide marketing, branding, public relations, and client development efforts.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining exceptional quality, organization, and attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of professional services marketing experience; legal industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Background supporting client development, proposal generation, and attorney business development efforts.
  • Experience planning and executing client events, sponsorships, seminars, and networking initiatives.
  • Preferred experience working with the energy and petrochemical industries and knowledge of the Texas business market.
  • Excellent written, verbal, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with attorneys, executives, clients, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience using CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and marketing technologies; familiarity with design software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
