Position Summary:

The Market Sales Manager will set and achieve ambitious sales targets, ensuring consistent profitable revenue growth for their sales team. They will drive the sales process from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring a strong sales pipeline. They will monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to optimize sales efforts and maximize profitability.  The Market Sales Manager will drive profitable growth in the region by leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing sales team. This role is responsible for creating and executing sales strategies, building customer relationships, and driving market presence to achieve organizational goals. The Market Sales Manager works in close concert with the Operations Manager who leads the team and the infrastructure responsible for the distribution of the Company's lumber and building materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering profitable sales results through the sales team by developing the team through motivating, counselling, skills development, and product knowledge development.
  • Planning, implementing, and directing the sales activities of the company sales-team in the designated area to achieve sales objectives.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies across multiple locations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Set clear, measurable objectives and performance standards for each location and coordinate sales action plans for each salesperson on the team.
  • Utilizes Bistrack Sales Management Dashboard to ensure Hayward sales process is being followed and sales KPIs are updated regularly.
  • Ensures sales team follows Hayward pricing rules by regularly reviewing quotes for pricing compliance, review of   large quotes, low margin transactions and quotes and orders that fall outside of company pricing parameters.
  • Set individual commission targets and review commission plans to ensure that each seller understands their objectives and targets.
  • Actively promote Hayward Lumber's presence across the region through networking, community engagement, and industry events.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team across multiple locations to achieve individual and collective targets.
  • Foster skill development through tailored training programs on product knowledge, market trends, and selling techniques.
  • Provide guidance and support to underperforming team members, by analyzing the root cause of the problem and creating actionable plans for improvement.
  • Conduct region-specific market research and competitor or customer analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and metrics by location to identify trends, optimize performance, and prioritize initiatives.
  • Builder and maintain strong business relationships with key accounts and decision-makers in each market.
  • Ensure that all sales representative activities are in accordance with the guidelines of the Hayward Lumber Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate with the Internal Recruiter in an effort to find, recruit, train, retain, and build a sales team.
  • Collaborate with location managers to ensure team alignment with company policies, goals, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Proven experience in managing and directing sales teams, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to conduct market research
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and building materials is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and sales performance metrics.
  • Proven root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Regular travel throughout the regional market to meet with clients.
