Description:

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the daily execution and overall performance of production operations across a 7-day, 4-shift manufacturing facility producing OEM automotive floor mats and ensures the company targets are achieved and standards for safety, quality, and efficiency are maintained. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on floor leadership, ensuring production meets customer demand, takt time, and quality requirements while operating within a Lean, pull-based system. This leader directly manages day shift and oversees shift leads across other shifts, driving operational stability and continuous improvement.

This valued position works and communicates closely with Maintenance, Scheduling, HR, Quality, Engineering and Program Management.

Main Objectives:

  1. Responsible for on schedule production of orders to customer specifications.
  2. Oversees production flow, trouble shoots problems, adjusts as needed. Implements continuous improvement methodologies & recommends improvements to people, processes and equipment as needed.
  3. Supports Shift Leaders and production associates to resolve problems as they arise.
  4. Acts as the first point of contact for Shift Leaders for any issue, including HR topics (i.e., coaching, attendance, vacation requests, etc.)
  5. Maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and annual KPIโ€™s that are tied to annual budget. Develop counter measures to fill gaps.
  6. Promote safety-first culture and OSHA compliance
  7. Supports built in quality systems to manage internal scrap & customer complaints.
  8. Leads & teaches lean principles, including visual management, problem solving, 5S, value stream, etc.
  9. Provides operations leadership to execute program launches and changes to existing programs.
  10. Ensures adherence to Standard Operating Procedures that promote safety of all associates, including a clean shop floor.
  11. Lead Kaizen events and waste reduction initiatives
  12. Drive stability to reduce overtime
  13. Consistently applying company policies to all associates.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of manufacturing environment leadership experience. Engineering or related degree preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing in a Tier 1 automotive environment.
  • Experienced with automotive manufacturersโ€™ certifications (IATF 16949, CCC, VDA, etc. with certifications).
  • Experience with sewing and carpet.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams.
  • Demonstration of exceptional organizational skills.
  • Experience with MS Office tools, automotive ERP systems (Plex), and Customer Portals.
  • Lean, Kanban, Pull-System, 5S, and Safety
  • Basic project management awareness includes budgets and timelines.
  • Basic financial awareness including return on investment calculations.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication and presentation skills.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for leadership & team building.
