Production Manager

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Production Manager to be based out of Cartersville, GA. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for leading the Operations teams within our plant and have the availability to support off shift production as required. The Production Manager will be our on-site welding and fabrication expert with knowledge and ability to guide and train operators on the production floor.

Minimum of 7 years of work experience in a welding and fabrication manufacturing environment required. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop and implement the Atkore Business System, Lean Daily Management and Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Drive Atkore’s Lean Excellence strategy. Operational leadership, resulting in successful safe work environment, exceptional quality performance, lean implementation, productivity gains, a reduction in operating costs, inventories, and lead times.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Create, implement, and modify when needed standardized work and ensure standardized work is followed by value stream team members.
  • Instill and maintain a positive “can-do” team atmosphere within the value stream by holding regular team meetings, assigning tasks to team members, empowering team member decision-making, and coordinating support services.
  • Develop and coach team members with necessary skills to identify problems and challenges, perform root cause analyses and implement countermeasures and solutions as necessary.
  • Develop and manage supervisors and associates in the value stream, including performance assessment, attendance management, professional development, etc.
  • Develop and implement cross training activities to ensure proper function of the work cells and maximize team’s potential.
  •  All associates must embrace and foster an environment that supports our core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Excellence.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/operations management preferred or equivalent combination of work experience.
  • Seven to 10 years of management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams of considerable size, scope, and complexity.
  • Strong Lean manufacturing background and the passion to grow your lean experience. Proven track record of Lean accomplishments as well as cost out and process improvements.
  • Experience and background in accounting, human resources, inventory control and strategic planning preferred but not required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications, and ability to analyze information and create reports.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or any other ERP is a plus.

 Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy.
  • Understand your team’s strengths and opportunities.
  • Gain an understanding of the products and processes.
  • Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Partner with Safety, Quality, and HR to provide corrective measures and find opportunities in areas for continuous improvement. 
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
  • Take full ownership of Lean Daily Management, including Daily Gemba Walks, KPI and KAI boards.
  • Fully understand how you and your team impacts Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
  • Drive Lean Excellence strategy for your Production Departments. Develop strategies and implement projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $95,520 - $131,340.  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
