Job description

The Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) is responsible for the technical success of all manufacturing processes and has full ownership of product quality throughout the product lifecycle. This role integrates process engineering and quality engineering responsibilities to ensure all products meet customer requirements and internal quality management system standards.
The MPE leads process and quality planning, supports APQP activities, ensures robust process control, and drives continuous improvement through a data-driven approach. This position works cross-functionally with Program Management, Operations, and our Customers to ensure compliant, efficient, and high-quality production outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support APQP processes to ensure successful product launches that meet customer requirements.
  • Develop robust manufacturing strategies through cost estimating, feasibility reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Review customer designs, GD&T, and specifications to identify key characteristics and ensure manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper transfer of new products into production.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including routers, process flows, and work instructions.
  • Develop and maintain control plans, including inspection methods, sampling plans, and process controls.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and all customer-specific requirements.
  • Interpret and manage customer flow-down requirements within the quality management system.
  • Develop and submit First Article Inspection (FAI) reports per AS9102 requirements.
  • Ensure proper data collection, record retention, and traceability per internal procedures.
  • Generate Certificates of Compliance as required for customer shipments.
  • Provide hands-on support during product launch and ongoing production.
  • Ensure in-process and final inspections are properly defined and executed.
  • Support and guide Quality Inspectors to ensure compliance with process and product requirements.
  • Verify process adherence and accuracy of inspection data and documentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure external processes meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Lead investigations of nonconformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze failures and customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Communicate quality issues and resolutions internally and with customers as required.
  • Ensure timely containment, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, Lean) to improve quality and process efficiency.
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support internal audits and contribute to maintaining and improving the quality management system.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Ensure all process changes follow change management procedures and documentation is updated accordingly.
  • Utilize and improve ERP system functionality to support manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Support company metrics and cross-functional initiatives.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing / engineering preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • AS9100 quality management systems
    • GD&T and blueprint reading
    • Control Plans, FMEA, Process Flow development
    • First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements (AS9102)
    • Root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
