Job description

PLANT MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Lead and manage the entire Android production operation within the customer centric unit including materials management, assembly, shipping, quality control, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering.Develop and administer policies and guidelines applicable to manufacturing operations. Ensure operations meet established objectives including but not limited to safety, quality, delivery, and cost; and develop and promote human resource bench strength throughout all levels of the entire production operation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading, coaching and mentoring the leadership team and providing them with the skills to lead, coach and mentor their direct reports.

  • Responsible for effective planning, coordinating and directing overall Android manufacturing activities; responsible for safety, quality, productivity and on-time delivery of all Android plant operations and team members.

  • Accountable for Android plant appropriate staffing levels to meet the budgeted financial performance of Android plant operations.

  • Direct the utilization of the Android KPIs to effectively track, monitor, and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, and issues of the plant location.

  • Drive implementation of a lean manufacturing utilizing required operating procedures, standardized work instructions, and job safety analysis.

  • Implementation of policy deployment to improve plant performance metrics and meet or exceed customer expectations (productivity goals, cost reduction goals, etc.).

  • Develop, drive and support plant activities towards maintaining IATF 16949/ISO14001 compliance, and achieving customer awards and Quality registrations.

  • Lead the plant safety committee; assign clear responsibilities for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and hold all direct reports accountable for ensuring that all required safety procedures are being followed in the performance of daily activities and all safety devices are properly in place and utilized.

  • Work with Sales Team to provide input into quoting and new business development activities (pricing, program management, plant capacity, etc.)

  • Maintain high standards in plant layout applying 5S and PFEP.

  • Ensures plant adheres to all Android policies and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Management, Business, or Engineering); Master’s Degree in Business Management preferred (MBA)

  • Years of Experience: 5+ years in increasingly complex management positions with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry.

TRAVEL:

  • Travel Required: Yes 25% or less

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes of the automotive industry.

  • Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma process improvements.

  • Vision and ability to translate progressive operating techniques into applications and results.

  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing financial principles.

  • Strong logic and analytical skills to direct resolution of complex or unusual business problems.

  • Action-oriented and innovative in leading the manufacturing operations.

  • Process knowledge of plant department functions and roles to facilitate overall plant synergy.

  • Proven leadership ability and utilization of teamwork.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of team members.

  • Ability to mentor and teach team members effective problem solving methods for related plant and customer problems/issues.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
