At Voltava, people power everything we do. We are a premier global manufacturing and assembly partner formed through the combination of Detroit Manufacturing Systems, Android Industries, and Avancez with approximately 5,400 Team Members across 21 facilities worldwide. Our vibrant, collaborative, and people-focused culture is the foundation for everything we deliver, from complex module assembly and sequencing to contract manufacturing, supply chain, automation, and tooling and equipment design for OEM customers across the automotive, industrial, e-mobility, heavy truck, defense, and technology sectors. Kinetyc, our scalable contract manufacturing arm based in Wixom, Michigan, expands our capabilities and capacity to support customers across a range of industries. Together, we are Building A Better Everything.

About the Role:

The Quality Engineer will support plant quality activities and provide hands-on quality leadership across the manufacturing floor. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns, strengthen processes, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure quality standards are consistently met. The Quality Engineer will also train and support Team Members in the use of quality methods, tools, and problem-solving practices that drive operational excellence.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide day-to-day quality support to the manufacturing floor, helping identify, contain, and resolve quality concerns.
  • Lead investigations into quality issues with cross-functional teams and validate containment actions as needed.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented, documented, and verified for effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation, including customer-required documentation and approvals.
  • Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and verify that error-proofing systems are operational and effective on the manufacturing floor.
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and identify new or emerging risks in existing production processes.
  • Lead short-term quality initiatives designed to improve key performance indicators (KPIs) and overall plant performance.
  • Complete plant floor audits and use findings to drive corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Lead problem-solving activities and communicate with customers regarding quality concerns, corrective actions, warranty issues, and customer audits.
  • Participate in the engineering change process to ensure quality standards, documentation, and validation requirements are updated for changes.
  • Develop, validate, and verify error-proofing implementation in support of manufacturing processes.
  • Support plant launch activities as needed, including the creation and validation of quality documentation prior to production launch.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Be Successful:

  • Three or more years of experience supporting AIAG APQP processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality tools, problem-solving methods, corrective action processes, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Team Members, plant leadership, and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation in a fast-paced production environment.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Quality Certification (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA, etc.)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or 10+ years’ experience; engineering degree is preferred

Travel:

  • Minimum
