Maintenance Manager
Lanham, MD

An established commercial printing and manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all facility maintenance activities. This position is responsible for ensuring that production equipment, machinery, and building systems are properly maintained to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The Maintenance Manager will supervise a Mechanic and Maintenance Technician while fostering a proactive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, train, and develop the maintenance team
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance for printing equipment and facility systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical issues to minimize production downtime
  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs that extend equipment life and reduce unexpected breakdowns
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, replacement parts, and completed work
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies
  • Develop and enforce maintenance procedures, safety standards, and department policies
  • Coordinate with production and management teams to prioritize maintenance activities based on operational needs
  • Ensure all required safety training is completed within established timelines
  • Maintain compliance with workplace safety regulations and company policies
  • Manage relationships with equipment vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Monitor the maintenance budget and identify opportunities to control costs
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to maintenance team members
  • Complete all required in-person and online safety training
  • Follow and enforce all established safety procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance processes
  • Previous leadership experience, including direct supervision and development of maintenance employees
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and manage multiple projects
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or similar leader within a printing or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing proactive preventive maintenance programs
  • At least six years of experience within the printing industry
  • Experience maintaining envelope converters, cutters, folders, and related production machinery
  • Technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

  • Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend availability for urgent repairs or scheduled maintenance
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise
  • Willingness to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required
