Job description

The Machine Operator is responsible for supporting production operations across Holtec's manufacturing departments, including Billet, Material Handling, Extrusion, Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO), and Rolling Mill operations. This hands-on role involves operating production equipment, monitoring manufacturing processes, handling materials, performing quality checks, and supporting the safe and efficient production of high-quality products. Candidates with experience in billet processing, extrusion, rolling mill operations, material handling, Water Jet, CNC, metal manufacturing, or other heavy industrial production environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
Location: Orrville, OH
Shifts: Multiple shifts available. Shift assignments may change based on business needs, production schedules, workforce demands, and operational requirements.
  • 1st shift 7:00 AM - 3:30PM
  • 2nd shift 3:00PM - 11:30PM
  • 3rd shift 11:00PM - 7:30AM

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Operate manufacturing equipment and machinery in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements
  • Support production operations within Billet, Material Handling, Extrusion, MAO, Rolling Mill, Water Jet, and CNC departments as assigned
  • Load and unload raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
  • Monitor machine operations and production processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with operating standards
  • Perform routine quality inspections using measuring devices and gauges to verify product specifications and dimensions
  • Record production data, operational information, and quality results accurately and completely
  • Identify and communicate equipment, quality, or process issues to supervisors and maintenance personnel
  • Perform basic machine setup, cleaning, lubrication, and operational adjustments as required
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other equipment to support production activities
  • Assist with material movement, inventory organization, and staging of materials for production
  • Support changeovers, equipment preparation, and production startup activities
  • Maintain work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition
  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with Operators, Maintenance, Quality, Production Supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of manufacturing, production, machine operation, or material handling experience
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as production demands require
  • Experience operating industrial equipment, manufacturing machinery, forklifts, or overhead cranes
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documents, and safety procedures
  • Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, or similar inspection tools preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, stand, walk, bend, kneel, push, pull, reach, and perform physical work throughout the shift
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality
