Job description

Nott Company is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator & Assembler to operate conveyor belt punching and slitting equipment while performing belt assembly and lacing installation. This role is responsible for producing high-quality conveyor belt products according to customer specifications, maintaining safe operation of machinery, and ensuring finished assemblies meet quality standards.
What will you be doing?
  • Operate conveyor belt punch and slitting machines safely and efficiently
  • Measure, cut, slit, and punch conveyor belts to required dimensions and specifications
  • Assemble conveyor belt components and install mechanical lacing on belt ends
  • Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and proper alignment
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and basic drawings
  • Set up machines, adjust tooling, and monitor machine performance during operation
  • Use hand tools, measuring tools, and assembly equipment as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following safety and housekeeping standards
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly
  • Package and label completed products for shipment or inventory
  • Follow company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Work collaboratively with production and warehouse team members to meet production goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What will you need to be successful?
  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or assembly experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math calculations accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Highly qualified candidates will have:
  • Experience with conveyor belt fabrication or industrial belt systems
  • Knowledge of belt lacing methods and installation tools
  • Experience operating slitting, cutting, or punching equipment
  • Basic troubleshooting and machine setup skills

What are the physical requirements of this position?
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
  • Frequently lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery and moving equipment
