Manages the manufacturing engineering staff and oversees all activities involved in developing, documenting, implementing, supporting, and continually improving efficient, cost-effective production manufacturing processes for the company.Manages development, support, maintenance, and continual improvement of effective manufacturing processes, procedures, machinery, and tooling to improve manufacturing costs, quality, and safety.Manages the organization's manufacturing engineers and product-design support personnel.Provides ongoing support for corrective action on manufacturing problems and deficiencies, and troubleshooting technically challenging production problems.Researches process performance data to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements to improve manufacturing yield, runtime, quality and safety, and reduce manufacturing costs.
Job Description:
• Provides leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Engineering staff including coordinators of all ME related functional groups
• Insures the organization includes the proper Manufacturing Engineering support structure, skill sets, and functional groups.
• Develops manufacturing processes and resultant investment for new product programs. Can properly fill out MPPS, spend curve, equipment utilization, capacity, and timing documents
• Develops and communicates process flows for process sourcing
• Oversees the sourcing of appropriate manufacturing equipment for the production of automotive components and assemblies.
• Manages the standard tasks associated with process launch and enforces discipline to timelines
• Insures all quality standards are met as it relates to process development and risk mitigation
• Insures best practices for manufacturing processes are implemented
• Develops assessment, training, and succession plans for the continuous development of the Manufacturing Engineering organization and talent base
• Supports current operations by providing problem solving guidance or systems solutions to improve performance
• Manages the CapEx budget of a single area or process launch.
• Enforces the adherence to AAM Manufacturing Engineering procedures and administrative systems
• Researches process performance data to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements to improve yield, runtime, quality, and safety, and reduce manufacturing costs
• All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
5-8 years in manufacturing environment, 2-3 in a leadership role.
