Job description

Eaton's Power Distribution and Control Assemblies (PDCA) Division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for Sustainment & Maintenance of Line for our growing Omaha, NE manufacturing facility. Relocation assistance is available.
Our Omaha Power Center is expanding its operations in Bellevue! Eaton's new 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to be online in the first half of 2027. The new facility will be designed and optimized to support high volume of switchgear structures at the quality and speed that AI data centers customers require. The engineered-to-order switchgear produced in the new facility can be integrated into Eaton's prefabricated power systems, which are designed to offer customers flexibility.
The Sustaining Engineer will lead and perform a wide variety of engineering, project management, and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to medium voltage switchgear products, materials, manufacturing processes, development tests, and unique customer applications. This role is a culmination of various engineering disciplines that facilitate the product line growth and continuous improvements for manufacturing.
In this role you will:
โ€ข Support updates to existing products and new product development projects, including developing and maintaining detailed project schedule and scope while incorporating resource management, maintaining a budget, and meeting milestone deliverables.
โ€ข Delegate design and drafting responsibilities to team and manages the release of engineering models & documents through change management practices.
โ€ข Develop and execute design verification test plans and reports.
โ€ข Support the quality team in determining root cause for warranty and quality issues, and recommend potential solutions.
โ€ข Collaborate with supply chain and purchasing to identify and select suppliers to support new designs.
โ€ข Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, and processes while maintaining awareness and control of costs.
โ€ข Support creation of applications notes, marketing literature, and technical papers.
โ€ข Work with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and field sales on meeting new design manufacturability, product performance and cost goals.
โ€ข Coordinate prototype builds and testing. Writing and implementation of design verification test plans (electrical, thermal, and mechanical). Coordinating design verification test plans when necessary with the applicable standards agencies (UL, CSA, KEMA, ANSI, etc.).
โ€ข Provide technical training for both internal and external audiences. Provides application support for end users.
โ€ข Developing/Maintaining a design automation system for all drawings/designs/BOM/ECN.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
โ€ข Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience
โ€ข Minimum of 1 year of customer exposure in an engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree (Dual Major) in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or a Minor in Mechanical Engineering
โ€ข Three (3) years of engineering experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
โ€ข Product engineering experience on Medium Voltage Assemblies (AC CLAD Switchgear, XGIS and RMU switchgear)
โ€ข Experience in new product development
โ€ข Product knowledge of components used in the Electrical Switchgear industry. (Breakers, Switches, Transformers and their applications)
โ€ข Working knowledge of industry standards: ANSI, IEEE, IEC, UL, CSA
โ€ข Experience working with global suppliers or vendors for design/manufacturing/supply chain/quality
โ€ข Experience with approval process (PPAP), capability studies and testing assistance is preferred
Position Criteria:
โ€ข Project management or team leadership experience
โ€ข Strong technical writing skills and verbal communication & presentation skills
โ€ข Strong understanding of technical applications. Ability to communicate technical information to cross functional teams

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Relocation benefits are available from within the United States.
