Position Summary
This position is responsible to improve and develop machines, tools, equipment and processes, for effective and efficient production while ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity goals can be achieved on a daily basis. This position supports the leadership and skill development of the manufacturing technical teams including but not limited to injection molding processors, technicians servicing tooling and industrial maintenance teams, if applicable
Position Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, and priorities for Manufacturing technical needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify resource needs and recommend and implement policies and procedures as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports to troubleshoot or streamline processes within manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with associates and leadership to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Prioritize project requests with manufacturing leadership and other internal customers.
  • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to make recommendations to maintenance for resolution.
  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction and extraction projects and prepare contract documents.
  • Write performance requirements for new/modified production processes.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.
  • Flexible work schedule to include coordination of 24-hour on-call service to manufacturing maintenance and off-shift problem resolutions.
  • Apply continuous improvement management principles throughout the department's daily activities. Drive the SQDC model of excellence in the facility by using Lean and 6-Sigma methods.
  • Provide direction and performance coaching and development to direct reports, if applicable.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and skills of manufacturing plastic injection mold processing.
  • LEAN Enterprise experience (OEE, SMED, TPM, 6S, Kaizen).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Enhanced knowledge of MS Office Applications required.
  • Experience as part of a self-directed work team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including listening, coaching, diplomacy and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with and prior utilization of continuous improvement manufacturing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards including lockout/tag out, confined spaces, EHSS knowledge and experience in areas of blood borne pathogens, machine guarding, hazardous communications, PPE, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience leading high performing teams to optimize efficiency and performance of injection molding processes and production

Education and Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree considered.
