Job description

Accounting Manager / Controller Contract: 6-12 Months Compensation: $60-$70/hour (Depending on Experience) Schedule: Full-Time, Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) Location: Gastonia, NC Area About the Opportunity Symbiotic Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Controller to lead accounting operations for a manufacturing organization. This role will oversee a team responsible for Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger activities, Inventory Accounting, and Master Data Management across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, manufacturing accounting experience, and expertise in month-end close and financial reporting processes.

Work Environment Hybrid schedule with 3 onsite days per week Business casual dress code Reports directly to Finance Leadership Team Oversight Direct management of: 2 Plant Accountants 1 Accounts Payable Clerk 2 General Accountants Accounts Receivable functions are supported by a third-party provider. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee the processing and payment of supplier invoices and employee expense reports. Direct accounting activities related to fixed assets, including acquisitions, transfers, capitalization, retirements, and depreciation for both book and tax purposes.

Oversee inventory-related accounting activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and audit support. Manage vendor master data creation and maintenance. Support various regulatory, tax, and government reporting requirements.

Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Review account reconciliations and perform detailed account analyses. Serve as a key liaison between finance, operations, purchasing, IT, auditors, and shared service functions.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls. Foster a customer-service-oriented culture across finance and shared services teams. Develop, mentor, and engage team members through effective leadership and performance management.

Prepare financial statements and required corporate reporting packages. Systems & Tools SAP R/1 SAP Business One (B1) Microsoft Office Suite Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or team management responsibilities.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with ERP/accounting systems. Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Strong communication, organizational, and planning abilities. High attention to detail and ability to meet aggressive deadlines. Preferred Public accounting experience, including Big Four background.

Manufacturing accounting experience. Experience managing month-end close and inventory accounting processes. Compensation $60-$70 per hour, depending on experience.

Full-time contract opportunity with an initial term of 6-12 months. Hybrid work arrangement. Opportunity to lead a high-impact accounting team within a manufacturing environment.
