Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking Mandarin Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year at independent schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mandarin Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teach Mandarin courses for lower, middle, or upper school students.
  • Promote language development through a range of age-appropriate learning opportunities, while fostering cultural awareness and biliteracy.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
  • Teach Mandarin language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
  • Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Mandarin and improve pronunciation.
  • Organizing events where students can showcase their Mandarin language skills.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.

Mandarin Teacher Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mandarin language, literature, or an equivalent required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven written and verbal proficiency in Mandarin.
  • Ability to teach Mandarin courses at various proficiency levels.
  • At least years of previous K-12 teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

  • Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
  • Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of International Baccalaureate (IB) preferred.
