What does a manager weapons engineer do?

A Manager Weapons Engineer oversees the design, development, testing, and maintenance of weapons systems within a defense or security organization. They manage engineering teams, coordinate project timelines, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and interface with clients or military officials. Their role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to deliver effective and reliable weapon solutions.

What are some common challenges faced by a manager weapons engineer when leading a multidisciplinary team?

As a Manager Weapons Engineer, one of the key challenges is coordinating efforts among specialists from various engineering backgrounds—such as mechanical, electrical, and software engineers—to ensure seamless integration of weapon systems. Balancing technical requirements with project timelines and budget constraints can also be demanding. Additionally, maintaining compliance with strict safety and security protocols while fostering innovation requires strong leadership and clear communication. Building a cohesive team culture and managing stakeholder expectations are essential for project success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manager weapons engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Manager Weapons Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or electrical engineering, extensive experience in weapons systems, and typically at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with CAD software, defense industry standards, project management tools, and relevant security clearances is often required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help you guide teams and coordinate across departments. These competencies ensure effective project execution, compliance with safety regulations, and the successful development and deployment of advanced weapon systems.

The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to create technical synergy that will modernize Space Electronic Warfare (SEW)? As an integration engineer, you know the importance of ensuring applications, platforms, data platforms, and DevSecOps Processes work together. You're eager to apply your Space EW knowledge to develop creative solutions.

On our team, you'll design, develop, and implement solutions for software integration projects across functions or between organizations that'll directly impact the Space Force. Using DevSecOps, Agile delivery, user centered design processes you'll work alongside software development engineers to integrate remote EW systems into one operating location, develop Common Operating Picture (COP), mission management, weapon target pairing, scheduling and execution of the mission in AWS environments. You'll use tools like Gitlab, Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Jira, Confluence, Cameo or Magic Draw, and AWS to plan, organize, and conduct integration projects that meet design specifications and standards from inception to completion.

With opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing and collaborating as a team to make the best solutions for our customers. The Integration Engineer will lead and execute technical integration activities for the client's program. This role spans systems engineering, microservices integration, cross-domain solution alignment, interface management, and missionapplication integration across cloudnative architecture. The engineer will contribute to multivendor integration efforts, Agile and DevSecOps workflows, and operationalization of mission capabilities in partnership with Space Systems Command and mission operators.

Work with us as we integrate new solutions for Space EW.

Join us. The world can't wait.

  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, or mission-system SE&I
  • 3+ years of experience integrating software, microservices, mission applications, or test environments within DoW, EW, or space-related programs
  • Experience working with operators to understand needs, develop requirements, and translate those needs to development teams for implementation
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools, CI/CD, configuration management, and secure repositories
  • Experience contributing to software product evaluation and software quality assurance activities, including adherence to coding standards, securedevelopment practices, and verification of deliverable artifacts
  • Knowledge of software integration patterns across synchronous and asynchronous interactions, including request and response services, publish and subscribe models, eventdriven workflows, distributed queues, and streaming data flows
  • Knowledge of containerized architectures, cloud platforms, API design, or interface control
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience supporting SEW, EW, RMT, Bounty Hunter, or Meadowlands ecosystem integration
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, Linux environments, configuration management, for mission-critical operations
  • Experience with Operator-facing integration through touchpoints, demos, and UX-informed design
  • Experience identifying, analyzing, and troubleshooting defects, including rootcause determination and retest validation
  • Knowledge of APIcentric and contractbased interfaces, applying versioning, schema evolution, and backwardcompatible integration techniques across mission applications
  • Knowledge of MBSE methodologies, UDL integration, telemetry standards, and cross-domain solutions
  • TS/SCI clearance

Clearance:
