Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting, this role is accountable for delivering high-quality technical accounting outcomes, building and developing team talent, and ensuring alignment between team goals and the broader objectives of the Financial Reporting function. This position is best suited for an experienced people leader with deep technical accounting expertise and a strong desire to operate in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of complex concepts and challenges.This position is based on-site at Invenergy's office in downtown Chicago, IL.**Responsibilities****Team Leadership & Development*** Lead a team of technical accounting professionals, setting meaningful individual goals, providing timely and specific feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.* Assign and manage work across the team to ensure projects and deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard.* Identify and address barriers to team performance, proactively solving problems and escalating issues as needed.* Align team plans and priorities with adjacent functions, including Financial Reporting, Tax, and Operations, to ensure coordinated execution.* Support the recruitment, onboarding, and growth of accounting talent within the team.**Technical Accounting*** Oversee the team's analysis and assessment of complex contracts for accounting implications and related disclosure requirements.* Direct the drafting of accounting position papers and lead engagement with external auditors to validate conclusions.* Present accounting conclusions and recommendations clearly to accounting staff and senior management, articulating trade-offs and providing well-reasoned guidance.* Lead research on current and emerging accounting standards, assess their impact on Invenergy, and provide input and recommendations to leadership on required actions.* Provide leadership and accountability for the implementation of significant new accounting standard updates across the department.* Oversee complex accounting areas, including derivatives, HLBV, and accounting for tax credits, ensuring accuracy and compliance.* Guide the development and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and methodologies, providing policy input and recommendations to leadership.* Direct the team's contributions to the drafting of audited financial statements and related footnotes in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team.* Manage the team's engagement with external auditors on accounting and disclosure-related matters, ensuring timely and consistent communication.* Coordinate and communicate cross-functionally within and outside the accounting organization to advance work and achieve outcomes.**Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.* 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated upward growth and significant achievements; likely 2+ years of experience at the Manager level.* Extensive knowledge of GAAP, including demonstrated experience developing and defending accounting position papers.* Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing accounting teams, with a track record of building talent and driving team performance.* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts clearly to management and non-accounting audiences.* Demonstrated ability to anticipate barriers, identify key issues, and drive continuous improvement in processes and execution.* Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and meeting deadlines.* Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.**Preferred Qualifications*** CPA license preferred.* FERC accounting experience preparing or reviewing regulatory filings.* Experience with tax concepts relevant to renewable energy, including tax credit accounting.* Experience in the energy industry or with complex project-based accounting environments.* Process and control-driven mindset with experience implementing or improving accounting controls and procedures.**Base Pay**$145,000.00 - $185,000.00 USD Annual Bonus: 25% - 40%The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position.
