Job description

The Podcast Mission develops strategies and builds products that serve creators and listeners interested in podcast and video content. As the #1 podcast platform in the world, we look to continue improving and scaling the experience of podcasts on Spotify. We build and maintain products like Spotify for Podcasters, Megaphone, and Chartable, and are always eager to provide creators with easy ways to increase their audiences on Spotify and give them new innovative means for monetization.

Mission Control is a team within Spotify's Podcast Platform product area, building the core infrastructure that powers how podcasts and other creator content are processed, uploaded, transformed, and distributed across Spotify. As the creator ecosystem evolves, we are expanding the systems that enable new content formats and experiences, helping creators and partners reach audiences in new ways.

At the center of this work is our Distribution API - a platform that allows creators and partners to manage, distribute, and monetize content on Spotify regardless of where it is hosted. This API is becoming a key integration point for some of the world's largest creator platforms. The team is also exploring how advances in AI can shape the next generation of creator and listener experiences, building the APIs and infrastructure that make those possibilities real.

What You'll Do
  • Build reliable backend services that power how creator content is ingested, processed, and distributed across Spotify at massive scale

  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the Distribution API, enabling seamless integration for creators and partners

  • Expand ingestion pipelines to support new and emerging forms of creator content

  • Build APIs and backend systems that enable AI-driven experiences and interactions across Spotify's creator platform

  • Collaborate with product managers, partner teams, and stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities used across Spotify and by external partners

  • Participate in on-call and goalie rotations to ensure system reliability and performance

  • Work with senior engineers to design scalable systems supporting millions of creators and pieces of content

Who You Are
  • You have professional experience building backend systems, with strong experience in Java, and familiarity with JavaScript or Ruby on Rails.

  • You have hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, along with relational databases like MySQL.

  • You have an understanding of platform and distributed systems, and experience building APIs or services that operate at scale. Full stack experience is a plus.

  • You are highly adaptable and enjoy picking up new technologies, moving confidently across different parts of systems and tech stacks.

  • You are comfortable using AI-powered developer tools such as Claude as part of your development workflow to learn new technologies, accelerate development, and solve complex problems.

  • You thrive in fast-moving environments, handle change with ease, and communicate clearly with teammates and external partners.

Where You'll Be
  • This role is based in The U.S.

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best!

The United States base range for this position is $132,949- $189,927, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six-month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, paid flexible holidays, and paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
