WROC-TV/Rochester First streaming/RochesterFirst.com in Rochester, New York is hiring a Sports Content Creator who is a presenter/producer of digital sports content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to all consumers. The Sports Content Creator analyzes and presents facts about sports events by interview, investigation or observation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms
  • Creates programs and long form content appropriate for streaming channels and platforms
  • Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
  • Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner
  • Participates in and originates interview and discussion sports content for streaming platforms
  • Regularly posts content to various social media platforms
  • Generates original story ideas for traditional and non-traditional sports topics
  • Operates and maintains podcast broadcast equipment
  • Connects with various local and national sports figures for interview and discussion content
  • Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming and other content

Requirements & Skills:

  • Superior on-air presence
  • Minimum three years' experience in sports reporting and anchoring (more or less depending on market size)
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
  • Experience with posting and editing content to all social media platforms
  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners and other office equipment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation $16.50 - $18 / hour commensurate with applicant's experience and skill level.
