Summary Statement

This position is responsible for administration and project\r\nmanagement of engineering contracts in Sussex County Delaware. Projects consist of varying complexity civil\r\ntransportation infrastructure ranging roadways, trail systems, pedestrian\r\nfacilities, and complex bridge structures.\r\nCandidate will be responsible for scheduling, supervision, and staffing\r\nof both in-house and consultant inspection staff. Job will require occasional fieldwork\r\ndependent upon project needs. Incumbent may choose to be based out of either\r\nour Georgetown (23697 DuPont Blvd) or Dover (800 Bay Rd) locations.\r\n

Essential Functions

Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\nDrafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications. \r\nReviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations. \r\nApplies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems. \r\nPlans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations. \r\nTests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities. \r\nPlans and coordinates engineering projects. \r\nReviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance. \r\nDevelops cost estimates for project time and materials. \r\nProvides technical guidance and training to technical staff.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS forEngineer Program Manager I (Department of Transportation Only)\r\n\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License OR Possession of a valid Professional Engineering license issued by a proper authority of a state, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, or a province or territory of Canada.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Six months experience as a project engineer inone or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below which includes managing engineering programs and projects.\r\n \r\n \r\n \tChemical Engineering\r\n \tElectrical Engineering\r\n \tCivil Engineering\r\n \tConstruction Engineering\r\n \tEnvironmental Engineering\r\n \tIndustrial Engineering\r\n \tMechanical Engineering\r\n \tAgricultural Engineering\r\n \tMaterial Science Engineering\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.\r\n \r\n\r\n
