Job Summary:
Johnson Technology Systems, Inc. (JTSi) is a federal government consulting firm providing technical services to the Federal Government. The Senior SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of SAP system landscapes across on-premise and cloud environments, serving as the technical escalation point for Basis-related incidents.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain SAP system landscapes including S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, Solution Manager, and SAP HANA databases across development, quality, and production environments.
• Perform system installations, upgrades, kernel patches, support pack stacks (SPS), and SAP Note implementations with minimal downtime.
• Monitor system health, performance, and capacity using SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, and third-party monitoring tools; proactively resolve bottlenecks.
• Manage SAP HANA database administration including backup/recovery, memory management, delta merges, and system replication (HSR).
• Configure and maintain SAP transport management system (STMS), RFC connections, and background job scheduling.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis for Basis-related production issues; serve as Tier 3 escalation point.
• Implement and manage SAP security configurations including user administration, role assignments, SSO, and audit log reviews.
• Plan and execute system refreshes, client copies, and landscape migrations including cloud migrations to SAP BTP, AWS, or Azure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project implementations, go-lives, and hypercare activities.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation for operational procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration across complex, multi-system landscapes.
• Deep expertise in SAP HANA database administration, including HSR, backup strategies, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA installations, migrations, and system conversions.
• Strong knowledge of SAP transport management, kernel updates, and support pack application.
• Experience managing SAP environments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or SAP BTP).
• Solid understanding of OS-level administration (Linux/RHEL preferred, Windows Server).
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred:
• SAP Certified Technology Associate — System Administration (SAP HANA) or equivalent.
• Experience with SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Landscape Management (LaMa), or SAP Business Technology Platform.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or SAP-native scripting.
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and experience within structured change management processes.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code for SAP environments.
