THE POSITION

Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist Trainee. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee position, you will gain hands-on experience and work closely with senior Prevention and Intervention staff to change lives through the Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program. As a seasonal, part-time member of our dedicated and compassionate team, you will learn to perform the following duties:


  • Implement Programs: Assist with implementing prevention and intervention programs for schools and communities under the supervision of senior staff
  • Provide Training: Help plan and deliver educational programs, training sessions, and presentations for schools, parents, and community groups
  • Keep Records: Maintain prevention records and enter program data into the state prevention management system
  • Support Improvements: Assist with evaluating programs, preparing educational materials, and conducting needs assessments
  • Conduct Outreach: After required training, may serve as a liaison for Student Assistance Program (SAP) meetings and provide school-based intervention support
  • Continue Education: Complete all required Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) trainings, maintains prevention-related training credits


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, Part-Time employment. Employee works during school year, occasionally during other times, as needed.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Start time and hours depend on school schedule. Often irregular hours, including evenings.
  • Employee may have overnight travel or out of County travel for meetings or training.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
